Ukrainian growers' starting prices for raspberries 70% higher year-on-year

Ukrainian farms have started raspberry harvesting in the southern regions of the country, according to Fruit-Inform. It should be noted that this year the raspberry season has started with higher prices.

For the present, growers ship their produce at UAH 40-65/kg (EUR 1.42-2.31/kg) against UAH 25-35/kg (EUR 1.05-1.48/kg) in the beginning of the past season. A year-on-year growth in prices is connected with relatively low supply of berries in the market, as ripening has significantly slowed down in the central and western regions due to cold and rainy weather conditions. Meanwhile, the demand for raspberries is rather high now, and this fact has also backed positive price trend.

More detailed information about the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable production and price expectations is available in the fundamental study «Fruit & Vegetable Market of Ukraine-2016: Results and Forecasts for the Next Season».
