Ukrainian growers start their apricot season

Growers from the southern regions of Ukraine have started their apricot harvesting campaign this week, according to Fruit-Inform.

This year the apricot season started averagely two weeks earlier than last year, and starting prices are averagely 20-30% higher year-on-year.

For the present, growers ship their apricots at UAH 30-40/kg (EUR 1.07-1.42/kg) against UAH 25-35/kg (EUR 1.05-1.27/kg) a year before. A year-on-year rise in prices is connected with relatively low supply now in view of slower ripening of stonefruits due to cold weather.

More detailed information about the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable production and price expectations is available in the fundamental study «Fruit & Vegetable Market of Ukraine-2016: Results and Forecasts for the Next Season».
