Russian growers start their season of early carrots
The Russian market participants say of arrival of first quantities of domestic early carrots in the southern regions of Russia this week, according to Fruit-Inform.
This year the season has started averagely a week later than usual due to abundant rainfall, which has postponed the start of harvesting campaign.
For the present, early carrots are offered in small volumes at RUB 30-38/kg (USD 0.45-0.56/kg). However, the market participants say of rapidly growing supply, as many local farmers have already started harvesting their carrots.
It should be noted that last year the season of early carrots also started later than usual due to unfavorable weather conditions. However, prices were 25% higher at that moment.
