Kazakhstan significantly reduces imports of Moldovan apples

Kazakhstan has reduced imports of apples from Moldova by 70% in the season 2015/16, according to Fruit-Inform.

The import volumes totaled just slightly more than 8,000 tons in July 2015 – May 2016, against about 26,000 tons in the same period of the previous season.

It should be noted that a fall in exports has resulted in Moldova having lost its status of the second largest exporter of apples to Kazakhstan, and now this country ranks just third.

The market analysts connect a decrease in Kazakhstan’s imports of apples of Moldovan origin with a total fall in apple imports in the country. Kazakhstan’s total imports of apples amounted to 94,000 tons, a decrease of 31% year-on-year.

More detailed information about the Kazakh apple sector development will be presented at the 6th International Conference «Apple Business of Ukraine-2016», which is to be held on August 11-12, 2016, Cherkasy, Ukraine.
