Ukrainian fresh produce price index sharply down in last week of July
Ukrainian fresh produce price index has fallen by 17.9% in the week from July 23rd to 29th due to seasonal trends in the supply and demand balance.
Due to a decrease of a third week-on-week, seasonal and greenhouse vegetables made the largest contribution to a fall in the price index. Prices of fruits and traditional vegetables also went down averagely by 4.5%. Meanwhile, potatoes became 4.2% more expensive.
It should be noted that the most significant decreases in prices were registered in the segments of melons (-60%), table beets (-45%), tomatoes (-44%) and watermelons (-33.3%). In addition to potatoes, prices went up in the segments of white cabbage (+30%) and apricots (+33%).
