Ukraine: apple prices reach last year’s levels in Kiev
Apple prices have been rapidly going down in Kiev, Ukraine, and now apples are offered at the previous year’s prices at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market, according to Fruit-Inform.
Apples have become 27-30% less expensive since the end of the previous week, and current prices vary between UAH 6-8/kg (EUR 0.21-0.28/kg), depending on quality and variety. Sellers are forced to reduce their prices due to rather abundant supply of seasonal fruits and moderate demand for apples.
Meanwhile, prices at other wholesale markets of Ukraine are still higher year-on-year. Sellers at Shuvar Wholesale Market, Lviv, offer their apples at UAH 6-10/kg (EUR 0.21-0.35/kg), depending on quality and variety, against UAH 4/kg (EUR 0.16/kg) and higher a year before.
Apple prices vary between UAH 8-12/kg (EUR 0.28-0.42/kg) at Nezhdanna Wholesale Market, Kherson Oblast, against no lower than UAH 5/kg (EUR 0.20/kg) in the end of summer 2015.
It should also be noted that prices in Lviv and Kherson Oblast did not change compared with a week before.
