Serbia, China sign MoU to boost investments in agriculture
Serbia's government said it signed a memorandum of understanding on agriculture with China aimed to increase investments from the Asian country.
The agreement envisages investments in Serbia by big Chinese fruit, vegetables and meat processing companies, agriculture minister Branislav Nedimovic said, as quoted in a statement by the Serbian government on Tuesday.
The objective of the deal is to use raw materials from Serbia and to export them with added value. The memorandum provides for the increase of the exports of beef and lamb meat, as well as milk and milk powder, Nedimovic said.
China will encourage its companies to invest in Serbia and welcomes Serbian exports, especially livestock, but also other agricultural products, Chinese agriculture minister Han Changfu pointed out.
Serbia has excellent raw material and China has the technology, so the two countries can combine them, Changfu said.
On Monday, the Serbian government said that the contract with China on the abolition of visas on ordinary passports entered into force on January 15. Under the agreement, citizens of Serbia and China will be able to stay or transit the territory of the two countries for up to 30 days from the date of first entry into the country.
