Banana prices up in Ukraine
Banana prices have considerably grown in Ukraine over the past week, according to Fruit-Inform.
In the meantime, bananas are offered at UAH 32-36/kg (EUR 1.09-1.23/kg) at Dubovo Wholesale Market, Khmelnytskyi, against at least UAH 30/kg (EUR 1.02/kg) a week before.
Sellers at Shuvar Wholesale Market, Lviv, offer bananas at no lower than UAH 33-34/kg (EUR 1.12-1.16/kg), an increase of 17-27% week-on-week.
A sharp rise in banana prices is also registered at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market, Kiev, where wholesalers sell their fruits at UAH 30-40/kg (EUR 1.02-1.36/kg), depending on quality and shipment volume, against no higher than UAH 35/kg (EUR 1.19/kg) in the end of the past week.
Wholesale market operators connect positive pricing trend in the Ukrainian market with a rise in banana prices in Ecuador. It should also be noted that current prices of bananas fixed in Ukraine are averagely 15% higher year-on-year.
