Crimea: tomato prices fall to last year’s levels
Prices of greenhouse tomatoes have been gradually going down in the Crimean market and already reached last year’s levels, according to Fruit-Inform.
In particular, sellers at Krymsky Privoz Wholesale Market, Simferopol, offer their tomatoes at RUB 80-110/kg (USD 1.41-1.94/kg), depending on quality and shipment volume. As a result, prices have fallen by 31-33% week-on-week there.
Crimean market participants connect negative trend with a seasonal increase in local farms’ outputs and higher supply of produce grown by Russian greenhouse centers.
It should also be noted that prices have already reached their levels registered a year before, and sellers expect them to continue to go down due to a seasonal rise in the supply of tomatoes in the Crimean market.
