High demand provokes strawberry price growth in Polish market
High demand for strawberries shown by Polish fresh market operators and processors has provoked a rapid rise in their prices, according to Fruit-Inform. As a result, they have already grown year-on-year in the country.
Now Polish growers are ready to sell their fresh market strawberries at 0.95-1.91 euro/kg, depending on variety and quality, an increase of 14% week-on-week, and say of rather high sales rates despite positive pricing trend.
In their turn, processors also actively buy strawberries and are ready to raise their purchase prices in view of a decrease in their production, which has gone down due to bad weather conditions. In the meantime, they buy strawberries at 0.83-0.98 euro/kg, twice as high as registered in the beginning of this month.
It should also be noted that current prices of Polish fresh market strawberries are averagely 60% higher year-on-year, while prices of berries for processing are 3.4 times as high.
