Poland: carrot and table beet prices down
Prices of carrots and table beets have fallen in Poland, according to Fruit-Inform. Furthermore, carrot prices are now significantly lower year-on-year, while table beets are still more expensive compared with a year before.
Table beets have become 27-33% less expensive in Poland since the end of the past week, and now farmers ship them at 0.14-0.19 euro/kg. Carrot prices went down more significantly: -40-42%. As a result, they are now varying between 0.14-0.18 euro/kg.
Growers connect negative trend with a rather considerable increase in the supply of produce in the Polish market: thanks to better weather conditions this week, farmers managed to go on their harvesting campaign.
It should also be noted that current prices of Polish carrots are 26-31% lower year-on-year, while table beets are averagely 18% more expensive compared with the same period of the previous season.
