Crimea: apricot prices half as high as a year before
The supply of apricots is rather high in the Crimean market, despite local growers’ concerns. In addition, even under conditions of a seasonal decrease in the supply, apricot prices continue to go down and have already fallen below last year’s levels, according to Fruit-Inform.
In particular, sellers from Krymsky Privoz Wholesale Market, Simferopol, are ready to sell their apricots at RUB 50-80/kg (USD 0.84-1.35/kg), depending on variety, quality and fruit size. It should be noted that prices were not lower than RUB 60/kg (USD 1.01/kg) in the end of the past week.
The Crimean market participants connect negative trend with the supply significantly prevailing over the demand. As a result, current prices are half as high as observed in Crimea in the end of July 2016.
