Poland: white cabbage growers reduce prices due to lower export demand
Polish white cabbage growers were forced to reduce their prices in the beginning of this week, according to FreshMarket.
In the meantime, Polish farms offer their produce at 0.12-0.14 euro/kg, a decrease of 10-15% week-on-week.
Farmers connect negative trend with a decrease in the demand for white cabbage shown by Belarusian companies, which are focused on re-export to Russia. In addition, lower prices are connected with rather moderate sales rates in the Polish domestic market.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that prices of Polish white cabbage are still about 44% higher year-on-year.
