Poland: cucumber prices down by 20% over weekend
Cucumber prices have been going down in Poland and have fallen by 19-21% over the past weekend, according to Fruit-Inform.
Now Polish farms offer their cucumbers at 0.19-0.35 euro/kg, depending on variety and quality. Negative trend is connected with several factors. In the first instance, the supply of cucumbers is rather abundant now in the segments of both greenhouse and field-grown produce. Meanwhile, cucumber sales rates are rather moderate.
It should also be noted that current prices of Polish cucumbers are averagely 15% lower year-on-year, and the majority of the market operators expect a further decrease in them in the nearest time.
