An increase in supply and moderate demand provoke a rapid decrease in white cabbage prices in Ukraine
Ukrainian farmers are forced to reduce their white cabbage prices. According to Fruit-Inform, they have decreased by about a third since the beginning of this week.
Now growers are ready to ship high-quality white cabbages at UAH 4-6/kg (EUR 0.13-0.20/kg), and prices of nonstandard produce often go down to UAH 3/kg (EUR 0.10/kg). We would remind you that farmers were not ready to sell at lower than UAH 6/kg (EUR 0.20/kg) a week before.
The Ukrainian market participants connect negative trend with rather abundant supply of produce, as the majority of farms continue their white cabbage harvesting campaign. In addition, sales rates are not high now. As a result, prices go down under conditions of high competition and moderate demand.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that current prices of Ukrainian white cabbage are still 3.3-4 times as high as in the same period of the previous year.
