Russia: white cabbage prices a third lower year-on-year
Prices of Russian white cabbage continue to go down and now are a third lower than registered a year before, according to Fruit-Inform.
In the meantime, growers from the southern regions are ready to sell their produce at RUB 5-9/kg (USD 0.08-0.15/kg), depending on variety and quality. White cabbage price in the central regions vary between RUB 8-12/kg (USD 0.13-0.20/kg). As a result, prices have already fallen by 17-25% in Russia since the beginning of this week.
The Russian market participants connect negative pricing trend with abundant supply of white cabbage in Russia and rather weak demand. In addition, buyers are often unsatisfied with the quality of produce, which has worsened due to bad weather conditions.
