Ukraine: banana imports up by 25% in September
Ukraine has been increasing banana imports. According to Fruit-Inform, they increased by 25% in September 2017, compared with the same month of the previous year.
The import volumes reached their 4-year high of 15,600 tons in September 2017. For comparison, they amounted to just 12,500 tons in the same month of the previous year.
Ecuador was a traditional leader in banana exports to Ukraine with the share of 71%. Costa Rica and Colombia ranked second and third, with the shares of 17% and 10%, respectively.
We would remind you that Ukraine imported 282,000 tons of bananas in the season 2016/17, an increase of 70% year-on-year and 4-year high.
