Ukrainian Azov Sea ports region: the results of cargo handling for 7 months
According to recent figures of Ministry of Transport of Ukraine, the amount of cargo handling by the state port sector of Azov Sea region (Mariupol and Berdyansk sea trade ports) summing 7 months of this year totaled 9.273 million tons, up 8.4% from the same period last year. According to the results of the year 2003 the dynamics of the given index showed 6.4% decrease of the amount of cargo handling by Azov Sea region ports. The part of the last month exceeded 13% of the total volume for the current period.
The sum of Mariupol port is 7.963 million tons (up 6.8%), this let the company be number four in amounts of cargo handling among the ports of Ukraine, moreover it has the highest rate of growth among the leading ports. Export, import and transit reloading in the port totaled 5.029 million tons (up 18.5% - that is also the highest index among those of the leading ports), 74.6 thousand tons (up3.2%), 2.643 million tons (down 10.3%) correspondingly. Mariupol port which is specialized in dry cargos transshipment, accounting more than 1/3 of general cargos. The catalogue of bulkers - coal (export, transit), coke, grain bulkers (export), ferrous metals (export - the main part; import, transit, ore cargos (import), containers (export, import, transit).
The sum of Berdyansk port is 1.308 million tons (up 19.9%). The dynamics of dry cargos grew up to 1.168 million tons (up 14.9%). Grain cargos (export) and mining cargos (import, transit) were handled in the port.
