Ukraine's state reserve bought 708,000 t of grain

According to Deputy Head of Ukraine's Committee for State Reserve Mykhailo Halych, 708,000 tonnes of grains were put in store by the Committee's elevators as of September 7. The payment has already been made for 514,000 tonnes of this amount (the Committee has allocated about $68 million for the purpose).

Halych also said that up to now the Committee's grain storage enterprises had been mainly filled up. Therefore, the grains being purchased now will be delivered to the storage enterprises located in western regions, where there are still spare storage capacities.

As it was informed previously, the Cabinet of Ministers had charged the State Reserve to purchase 1 million tonnes of grain till September 15. In August President of the Committee Mykola Pesotsky informed that purchasing volume of milling grain might be enlarged by 500,000 tonnes, which should be purchased till the end of 2004.
