"Silpo" opens two new stores in October
Two stores of "Silpo" supermarket chain will be opened in October - on October 16th in Kyiv (10 Rusanovskaya quay) and on October 29th in Ternopil (2 Simona Petlyury Str.).
Volodymyr Kostelman, the president of Fozzy Group Association, noted: "We've set up a right tempo of the development of our supermarket chain Silpo, we keep under control all the process and we are moving to success. We try to bring the idea of civilized merchandizing to the Ukrainian regions and to satisfy the needs of the buyers. The current year is devoted to fresh vegetables in "Silpo" and maximum low prices for first priority commodities. We treasure our buyers and we will do everything to satisfy them".
The store "Silpo" is a self-service shop, the assortment varies from 6,000 to 12,000 items of food stuff and related products depending on the trade area size. The price level is average and lower.
In Ukraine "Silpo" is one of the largest grocery supermarket chains, which will account already 46 stores in Kyiv and in the regions of Ukraine.
Average trade area of "Silpo" store is 1,200 square meters. The total trade area in 2001 was 6,000 m2, in 2002 - 27,000 m2, in the middle of 2004 - 36,700 m2. More than 5,000 employees are working in supermarket chains "Silpo" at present moment.
In March 2001 the first store was opened in Kyiv. Five stores were opened in total in 2001, in 2002 there were already 22 stores (Kyiv, Odesa, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya), in 2003 - 39 (18 in Kyiv, 8 in Dnepropetrovsk, 7 in Odesa 2 in Zaporizhzhya, and one in each - Khmelnitskiy, Rivne, Mykolaiv, Chernivtsi). Until 2007 it is planned to open more than 100 supermarkets.
