Greenhouse commodities have the best prospects?

During the first international conference "Vegetables and Fruits of Ukraine: the Market of New Opportunities" it was cleared up that export fruit and vegetable supplies from Ukraine are hampered mostly because Ukrainian commodities do not meet the requirements of the developed countries including EU. As to analysts' opinion, one of the solutions of the problem of quality is to increase production rates for special vegetable varieties grown under cover - in film and glass greenhouses. Such commodity does not require an additional cleaning, has better marketable looks and easier stands the transportation.

The experts of fruit and vegetable market also note that on interior Ukrainian market the demand increases dynamically for vegetables and fruits supplied out of mass production season, that is also the result of the population incomes growth. So in the nearest future we should expect the production growth for the vegetables produced under cover that is sure to lead to price decrease for these commodities out of season and to price stabilization during the mass production season.

The detailed information concerning the results of the first international conference "Vegetables and Fruits of Ukraine: the Market of New Opportunities" including the speakers' reports will be available in the December issue of "Agrooglyad" journal.
