Prices for "Borshch" vegetables go down in all regions of Ukraine
Based on the results of retail and wholesale prices monitoring on fruit and vegetable market, the specialists of Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP) confirm the prognoses of the further price decrease for cabbage, potato, red beets and carrot. Prices for all these commodities went down in most regions of Ukraine last week. Moreover, the most significant price decrease was observed in the oblasts where the prices had achieved the highest level before.
The price for white headed cabbage decreased the most dramatically, on USD $ 0.01-0.02/kg. So in the most production regions you can buy quality cabbage for USD $ 0.04-0.05/kg. The prices in the regions closer to the major consumption centers are a little bit higher.
The market players think that the rates of price decrease for cabbage, potato, red beets and carrot will slow down cause prices reached a considerably low level. At the same time we should remember that this year the market will be under the influence of cabbage and potato overproduction. The prices for these commodities will be under pressure of overproduction during the whole season, especially because the Ukrainian companies do not have the experience of mass export supplies.
