Russia centralised document issuance for imports of livestock products

Russia's federal service for veterinary and phyto-sanitary control - Rosselkhoznadzor - starting from November 10 changed the procedure of document issuance for imports of livestock products from CIS countries, www.gazeta.ru has informed. The Head of the federal service Sergey Dankvert said that his service took over the authority to issue permissions for imports of livestock products from the counties of "near abroad" (this used to be the authority of regional veterinary bodies).

He said the changes were connected with re-organisation of the veterinary control system in the country, re-distribution of authorities within this field between federal centre and the regions and also with the need to strengthen quality control of the imported goods and cut off the illegal imports.
