Due to Fall Fair in Simferopol the prices for fruit and vegetable commodities and meat went down

In Simferopol on the 6th of November, 2004, the traditional fall fair was held in the Republic. Dozens of thousands of people came to bazaar where the produce of nearly all agricultural rayons of Crimea was presented by agricultural enterprises and farmers. The buyers were eager to store up food stuff, moreover, the prices on the most of the commodities were excessively high recent weeks. The city people expected the prices to be favorable on the fair, and in major cases the prices were really lower.

For example, pork and beef meat could be bought even for USD $ 2.45-3.77/kg, low-quality apples - for USD $ 0.28/kg, cabbage - for USD $ 0.14/kg. Judging from the queues near the trucks and stalls those prices satisfied the buyers - we can only wonder if they also satisfied the sellers.

According to the information provided by the organizers, 418 tons of vegetables, 57 tons of fruits, 86 tons of potato, 65 tons of meat, 57 tons of flour, 64 tons of rice, 120 tons of grain forage were supplied for the fair. There were also 110 livestock animals and 16,000 seedlings of fruit trees. The prices for meat, vegetables and fruits in the points of cooperative purchasing system were also decreased comparing to the set prices to avoid the runoff of buyers.

The Agricultural Marketing specialists note that after that fair the market prices on some kinds of vegetable commodities, and also on meat have nearly not increased to the level they had achieved before the 6th of November.
