Potato overproduction on market leads to retail price decrease

The excessive supply of potato on Ukrainian market continues to determine the market prices. The retail price on potato was decreasing past week that is proven by the figures of the retail prices monitoring carried out by Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP). Weekly decrease of the average retail price was about 3% according to AMP evaluations. In Odesa the minimum sales price on potato went down on USD $ 0.01/kg; in Poltava the maximum price on potato went down on USD $ 0.03/kg. The average retail price on this commodity was USD $ 0.13/kg past week in Ukraine.

AMP information: the largest overproduction of potato in Ukraine is traditional for Chernygiv, Volyn and Vinnitsa oblasts, the greatest deficit is observed in Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk and Odesa oblasts and AR Crimea. As Agricultural Marketing Project reported, an average self-cost of one kilo of potato production was USD $ 0.01 this year.
