The decrease of trading activities as a result of a political crisis is reflected on fruit and vegetable market of Ukraine

During the first week after the end of the second voting of presidential elections the business activity has been remaining very low in the country. The number of vegetable and fruit sellers decreased nearly on all Ukrainian markets; the respective decrease of the quantity of buyers was also observed. The contraction of market trade activities is partially caused by the cold weather and "transfer" of some part of vegetables to the supermarkets; however, the wholesale trade activity has also decreased sufficiently.

This trend was especially obvious in the regions remote from the center of Ukraine. For example, the supplies of some kinds of vegetables and fruits from the southern oblasts of Ukraine to Lviv have been shortened significantly. Respectively the shortening of the demand was observed on cabbage, carrot, red beets and some other fruits and vegetables produced in Lviv oblast that was sure to influence the prices.

The analysts think that after settlement of the political situation the demand burst on vegetables, fruits and other food stuffs is possible on Ukrainian markets; and it can lead to the next jump of the retail prices.
