The excessive supply of apples from western oblasts of Ukraine affects the prices in Crimea

As Alexander Lekhno, Market Information Specialist of Crimean office, Agricultural Marketing Project, informs, in AR Crimea the excessive supply of marketable apples from western oblasts is observed. The supply growth of this commodity led to price decrease down to USD 0.37-0.56/kg. As market players inform, initially it was planned to supply these apples to the eastern region of the country, but due to the hard political situation some of the suppliers from Western Ukraine decided to sell the in the South.

Let's remind that this year early frosts affected the total fruit harvest in Crimea. The leaders - apple suppliers in Ukraine are Vinnitsa, Zakarpattya, Khmelnitskiy and Chernivtsi oblasts, and apple deficit is obvious in Kyiv, Donetsk, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts. AR Crimea has been occupying the seventh place in Ukraine as to the volumes of apple production and the eight place as to the volumes of supply to the other regions of Ukraine for the past five years in average.
