Prices on tropic fruits decreased a bit after the New Year holidays

As it was prognosed by the analysts of Agricultural Marketing Project, retail prices on tropic fruits began decreasing this week, after the traditional price growth during the holidays. This week bananas cheapened in average on 7%, down to USD $ 0.88-0.94/kg, oranges and lemons on 2-5% down to USD $ 1.13 and 1.07 respectively, tangerines on 6% down to USD $ 1.13-1.22/kg, and prices on kiwi did not change much.

Price decrease observed for tropic fruits, to the experts' opinion, was expected and is a result of demand decrease on these commodities from the side of final consumers. We'd note that prices on apples which compete on market with tropic fruits, practically did not change. Apples for sale are mostly of Ukrainian production, and the sellers inform about the shortening of contraband apple supplies from Moldova last time
