In 2003-04 yearly average volumes of grain export from Kazakhstan made 4.4 mln t - ag. minister

In the years 2003-04 the volume of exports of agricultural products from Kazakhstan exceeded the volume of imports by 35 percent, the country's Agriculture Minister Serik Umbetov said on January 31, www.gazeta.kz has informed.

The minister said that the geography of Kazakhstan's grain exports was represented by more than 40 countries. The yearly average volumes of exports reached 4.4 million tonnes.

Umbetov also said that the total arable area in the country had increased 8 percent over the past three years - to 18 million hectares. The share of grains in the total structure of plantings decreased from 70 to 65 percent, while the area of oilseeds was doubled.
