In January an insignificant price increase on meat-and-milk commodities and vegetables was observed in Ukraine

In January 2005 in Ukraine an insignificant price growth for livestock products and processed commodities, as it was informed the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Ministry of Economics of Ukraine.

In particular, according to the data of price monitoring carried out by the State Price Control authorities, since 12/01/03 to 01/30/05 the average retail price levels have increased - on beef (on 3.1%), pork (1.8%), cooked sausages, I grade (2%), milk (3%), butter (0.7%), sour-cream (1.1%). The price growth is also obvious for vegetable commodities: potato (2.5%), cabbage (8%), carrot (1%), red beets (2.2%), and onion (3%).

At the same time some decrease of average prices on chicken meat (1.3%), fat (1.1%) and eggs (5.4%).

The specialists of the Ministry of Economics think that the dynamics of consumer prices during January 2005 with account to the seasonal change of market conjuncture (demand decrease) proves the relative stability of the consumer prices on the major food commodities in Ukraine, except milk and vegetable commodities, for which the further insignificant price increase is possible. At the same time the price dynamics for chicken meat, fat and chicken eggs tends for the further decrease.
