In the second decade of February the price increase on livestock commodities and the processed milk and meat products continued, as it was reported by the Department of PR and Press of the Ministry of Economics of Ukraine.

In particular, according to the data of price monitoring conducted by the governmental price control authorities, in the period of 10th -20th of February 2005 the average retail price levels increased - on 2.2% for beef, on 1.6% for pork, on 2% for bacon, on 0.9% for chicken meat, on 1% for milk, on 0.2% for butter and 0.7% for sour-cream.

At the same time the decrease of the average prices on chicken eggs on 4.6% was observed.

The price growth on vegetable commodities in the second decade of February was more significant: on 2.3% for potato, on 16.8% for cabbage, on 4.6% for carrot, on 5.9% for red beets, on 6.9% for onion.

According to the price monitoring data, during the respective period in 2004 the price increase for beef, chicken meat, milk, sour cream, cabbage and onion was observed. At the same time, the price for baked sausages, pork, beacon, chicken eggs and red beets were going down.

As it was reported by the Ministry of Economics, the dynamics of consumer prices in the second decade of February 2005 proves the relative stable nature of the prices on the major food staff, except the livestock commodities, where some price increase is possible caused by the misbalance between the supply and the demand, according to the operational data. The trend of price decrease is obvious for chicken eggs. Taking into account the seasonal factor, the further price growth for vegetable products goes on.
