Ukraine: temperature fall will not affect winter crops

According to Hydrometeocenter of Ukraine, the fall air temperature will not affect winter crops. The frosts were expected and the fields are covered with snow. Thus there is no grounds to worry about crops state.

The temperature fell down to 15-20?С below zero in all the territory of Ukraine with the exception of Southern regions where minimal temperature was 5?С below zero.

Speaking about weather forecast, Hydrometeocenter expects unstable temperature mode with 2-10?C below zero, i.e. Ukraine keeps winter weather conditions.

According to the data of Hydrometeocenter, winter crop losses will make near 8 percent (624,000 hectares), which is within the norm taking into account that average annual losses make from 4 to 10 percent.

According to State Statistics Committee data, winter crops for 2005 in Ukraine were planted on the area of 7.62 million hectares (including 7.46 million hectares under grains).
