In February the significant price increase on livestock products and vegetables was observed in Ukraine

In February in Ukraine the price increase on livestock and the processed products continued. It was reported by the Department of PR and Mass Media Cooperation, the Ministry of Economics of Ukraine.

In particular, according to the data of price monitoring conducted by the State Price Control bodies, in the period between 01/30/05 - 02/28/05 the average levels of retail prices increased - on 5.5% for beef, on 4% for pork, on 1.1% for boiled sausages of the 1st grade, on 3.9% for milk, on 1.5% for butter and on 1.9% for sour-cream.

At the same time the decrease of the average prices on chicken eggs takes place (on 17.9%).

The price growth for vegetable commodities went on in the higher rates in February. The average price levels increased - on 14.8% on potato, on 54.3% on cabbage, on 17.8% on carrot, on 16.8% on red beets, on 19% on onion.

As the Ministry of Economics informed the dynamics of the consumer prices in February 2005 proves the possibility of the further increase of the retail prices on the main food stuff, taking into account the seasonal factor and unbalanced demand observed on the market.
