Greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes started to cheapen in Ukraine

Past week the increase of greenhouse vegetable supply of the national origin led to some price decrease on the greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers on Ukrainian retail market. The data of retail price monitoring conducted by Agricultural Marketing Project proved this fact. Before the 8th of March holiday the prices increased a little but the trend of price decrease will restart already on Wednesday on the 9th of March, according to the opinion of the specialists.

According to the specialists' evaluations, retail prices on greenhouse cucumbers decreased past week on 5-7%, on tomatoes - on 4-6%. We'd mention that the prices on these commodities were significantly higher that a year before. At present moment greenhouse vegetables are sold on prices exceeding the past year level minimum on 13% and greenhouse tomatoes are minimum 50% more expensive than they were past year.

Traditionally the prices on greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers start to decrease in March, and the demand level is stimulated by it. Price decrease, as a rule, continues till the moment of the first supplies of tomatoes and cucumbers produced on the opened ground.
