Information for fruit and vegetables business in CIS
Sales of animals and poultry in Jan.-Feb. dropped 5.5 pc from year ago
According to State Statistics Committee, sales of animals and poultry for slaughter in Ukraine in January-February 2005 dropped 5.5 percent from the same months of last year - to 404,800 tonnes (live weight).
In particular, the sales from individual households (which is the main contributor to this sector of farming business in Ukraine) dropped 9.8 percent - to 288,200 tonnes.
However, the official statistics has registered a growth in the sales from organised farming businesses (enterprises) to 116,600 tonnes, which is 7.2 percent more than this category of livestock breeders contributed in January and February 2004.
