Carrot supply to Ukrainian market increased significantly

According to the information of Agricultural Marketing Project, on the background of the insufficient supply of onion and cabbage of 2004 harvest the supply of carrot has increased significantly this week. The prices on this commodity have not changed much.

The majority of carrot supply is offered by the producers on USD $ 0.09-0.13/kg; however there are supplies on USD $ 0.18/kg and USD $ 0.06/kg. The low-quality carrot may be purchased on USD $ 0.02/kg. The volumes of the supplied carrot also vary much - the sets from 1 ton to several hundred tons may be purchased from the producers.

To the experts' opinion, the growth of carrot supply is caused partially by the outside temperature increase and the consequent deterioration of the conditions for carrot storage. The other reason for supply growth is the need for operational assets as the planting time has already started in the southern regions of Ukraine.
