The demand on cucumbers and tomatoes from the side of the processing enterprises will increase significantly in 2005

In 2005 the demand on vegetables from the side of canneries and other processing enterprises may grow up significantly. This fact is proved by the preliminary results of the survey being conducted now by Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP); the final outcome will be published in "Agrooglyad" journal and AMP web-site in the nearest future.

The demand growth on vegetables for processing needs is caused first of all by the growing demand on these commodities on the inner market. Still the demand growth on the Russian market plays its role - three quarters of fruit and vegetable processing enterprises surveyed by AMP exported the produced commodities mainly to Russia past year.

The greatest demand increase is traditionally prognosed for the major vegetable crops - cucumbers and tomatoes. It creates some new possibilities for the farmers in the regions where the enterprises extend much their purchase activities. We'd also mention that according to our evaluations, in 2005 the share of the raw materials produced by the processors themselves will continue to decrease regarding to the total volume of the processed fruits and vegetables.
