Greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes got up in price again

Past week the prices on greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes got up in price again on the Ukrainian market, though it seemed that nothing was able to break the standard trend of the gradual price decrease.

The price growth on cucumbers amounted to 2-3% per week; the main reason for it was the great demand increase from the side of population. To the opinion of the analysts of Agricultural Marketing Project, this spring the absolute record on greenhouse cucumber sales volumes will be achieved.

The greenhouse tomatoes grew more expensive under the influence of demand growth and the simultaneous delays in this commodity supplies from Turkey. We should mention that despite of the efforts of the new government to stop the contraband, some market players suppose that as before the major part of greenhouse tomatoes is imported from Turkey without custom tax payments. The price growth on greenhouse tomatoes amounted to not more than 1-2% per week.

In the nearest future we expect the stabilization and renewal of the price down trend on the greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes.
