The prices on early vegetables decreased abruptly in the South of Ukraine
Today on the wholesale market "Kopani" in Kherson oblast the abrupt decrease on the prices on early vegetables was observed, as these commodities are actively supplied on market. It was reported by Roman Rybalko, the Price Monitoring Specialist of Agricultural Marketing Project.
As Roman said, the price decrease is determined by the supply growth of the newly produced commodities. The prices on some of them went down more than twice past week. In particular, the prices on radish, cucumber, early cabbage and squash dropped down abruptly.
The wholesale parties of radish can be purchased on USD $ 0.19/kg; however, the supply of this commodity started to shorten. The excessive supply of greenhouse vegetables is also observed, the price on them is USD $ 1.18/kg.
The market players note that this year the export of early vegetables to Russia is hindered much, it was a traditional business of the private intermediaries from Kherson oblast. It may be one of the reasons for the abrupt price decrease on vegetables.
