The price on early white cabbage has already dropped down lower than USD $ 0.59/kg on "Kopani" market, so the sales season for the cabbage of 2004 harvest is practically over
Today on the wholesale market "Kopani" in Kherson oblast the prices on early white cabbage dropped; this commodity is sold now on USD $ 0.51-0.59/kg, still in the end of past week the cabbage price fluctuated within USD $ 1.28-1.48/kg.
According to the information provided by Roman Rubalko, the Price Monitoring Specialist of Agricultural Marketing Project, the price decrease is caused by the rapid growth of supply of the locally produced cabbage. The trend of price decrease is preserved. Traditionally, this commodity can be bought from the farmers directly out of field on even lower price.
As Roman said, the prices may be stabilized on the level of USD $ 0.39/kg, when the wholesale buyers from the Baltic countries are coming on the market.
To the analysts' opinion, the price decrease on the early white cabbage to the level of the price of the cabbage of 2004 harvest practically means the end of the sales season for past year cabbage. The price on the cabbage of 2004 harvest will now be formed under the influence of the prices on early commodities, and are to be lower for sure.
