Russia will harvest about 70 mil t of grain in 2005/06 MY - expert

Grain harvest in Russia is to be nearly 70 million tonnes in 2005/06 MY, Vice President of Russian Grain Union Alexander Korbut said in his presentation at the conference "Ukrainian Grain Forum. Grain Industry-2005" in Kiev Wednesday.

"The figure might even be higher", he said.

According to him, export potential of Russian grain market will be about 15 million tonnes next season.

He said that Russia's main grain export item would remain to be wheat, as it had been the case earlier.

According to Russian Grain Union's data Russia's grain export this season will be 8 million tonnes compared to 7 million tons in the season before.

In 2004 Russia collected 78 million tonnes of grains.
