The deficit of root beets supply goes on stimulating the price growth on these commodities
The wholesale traders of vegetable commodities point out the deficit of red beets and carrot supply during the recent months. It was reported by Dmitriy Chernyak, the Market Information Specialist of Odesa office, Agricultural Marketing Project.
To this moment the significant supply shortening resulted in practically no large supplies of past harvest red beets on Odessa oblast market. The retail price on this commodity reached the top record for the recent months - USD $ 0.59-0.79/kg. At the same period past harvest red beets cost USD $ 0.13-0.29/kg. Such supply fosters the demand on early red beets which have already appeared on market and offered in the wholesale parties on terms of self delivery on USD $ 2.37/kg (with tops), and sold in retail on USD $ 0.19-0.39 apiece.
The price on past harvest carrot continues growing too, though the situation with this commodity supplies is better a little. This week the retail price was USD $ 0.69-0.79/kg, and the small wholesale parties are supplied on USD $ 0.65/kg. These prices are twice higher than in the same period past year. The alike situation is observed for early carrot sold by bunches.
