The insufficient supply of early cabbage is causing the price growth
The trend of price increase on early cabbage has been traced, as it was informed by Roman Rybalko, the Price Monitoring Specialist of Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP). Since Friday the price on early cabbage has been increased on 10-15% - USD $ 0.79/kg on "Kopani" market, Kherson oblast. Such situation, to the specialist's opinion, was formed due to the expected decrease of early cabbage supply volumes at the time when the harvesting time for early cabbage of the medium terms of ripening has not come yet.
As it was earlier informed, the harvest of early cabbage will be lesser this year than expected cause of the lingered time of cold weather; the seedlings started to overgrow and bloom before the producers were able to plant them in the open ground. "The early cabbage harvest will decrease on minimum 30% because of the cold weather", said the producer of this commodity from the village Zarichcha, Zakarpattya oblast.
According to the results of wholesale price monitoring, in Kyiv the early cabbage price has not changed during the holidays. In Lviv, on "Shuvar" market the trend of price increase has been traced also, the average price on early cabbage has grown on 7-10%.
