The wholesale sets of strawberry are supplied on USD $ 0.99/kg in Odesa oblast
Some strawberry producers in Odesa oblast have been already supplying strawberry on USD $ 0.99/kg, according to the information provided by Odessa office of Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP). This price is twice lower than it was in the end of the previous week. As it has been already reported, today the wholesale price on strawberry in Kyiv was also twice lower than on Friday and amounted to USD $ 2.97/kg. The market players expect that the rapid price decrease on strawberry will go on this week, especially in case of warm weather.
We'd remind that past year the strawberry supply was lower than expected because of frosts in April and May. In complex with the yearly increasing demand on this commodity, the result was a rather high price - past year the wholesale price on strawberry did not drop lower than USD $ 0.49/kg, and more frequently it fluctuated within USD $ 0.59-0.79/kg.
This year, as the agronomists say, a fairly good strawberry harvest is expected. Nevertheless, this harvest will hardly satisfy the increased demand on this berry from the side both the population and the consumers. In this regard the price on strawberry will probably remain on the same relatively high level.
