Cucumbers grew dearer in Ukraine
In line with the results of the wholesale price monitoring conducted by Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP), during the last decade the price on cucumber has grown on 20-30% in Ukraine. Today the wholesale price on cucumber fluctuated from USD $ 0.69/kg in Kherson oblast to USD $ 0.89/kg in Kyiv.
According to the information provided by Alexander Lasinskiy, the Coordinator of Odesa office, Agricultural Marketing Project, today the purchase price is USD $ 0.89/kg, but only yesterday buyers purchased cucumber on not more than USD $ 0.69/kg. The producers expect the wholesale price to grow up to USD $ 0.98-1.18/kg. Some market players explain the price growth by the fact that greenhouse plants were affected in several rayons because of the recent unstable temperature regime (or possible disease dissemination), as a result yield decreased.
