Ukrainian farmer has insufficient seed supply

Farmers in Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, Sumy and Cherkasy Oblasts have insufficient supply of seed for spring planting campaign, reports Interfax-Ukraina.

The level of grains and legumes seed in the above mentioned Oblasts ranges from 88.7% through 99.9%, says Ukraine's State Statistics Committee.

In general Ukraine lacks corn seed, of which a mere 25.3 ths MT are available on the farm or 30.5% from required. Sunflower seed available makes up 10.5 ths MT or 69.6%.

On the other hand, 1111.4 ths MT of spring grains and legume seed is on stock, which is more than sufficient, or 109.3%.

Projections for spring planting campaign are 16.3 mn ha where 6.6 mn ha - grains, 994,000 ha - sugar beets, 2.3 mn ha - sunflowers, 1.6 mn ha - potatoes, 495.5 ths ha - vegetables.
