The acreage of potato and vegetable crops decreased in Ukraine
Ukrainian agricultural producers planted 1.51 mln. ha of potato in 2005,that is 2.7% less than in the previous year, according to the information provided by the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine.
The acreage of vegetable crops was contracted too - on 2.4%, the total area is now 464,100 ha.
Traditionally the largest acreage of potato and vegetable crops is handled by the private house plots of the population - 1.49 mln. ha and 410,280 ha respectively. The agricultural enterprises planted 16,400 ha of potato and 53,800 ha of vegetables.
