Kazakhstan's grain terminal to be commissioned in Latvian port of Ventspils
According to www.gazeta.kz, opening ceremony of Kazakhstan's grain terminal is to be held on August 26 in Latvian port of Ventspils, informed Kazakhstan's Embassy in Riga.
The facility is a joint project of Latvia and Kazakhstan and the first investment project of Kazakhstan in the Baltic countries. Grain will be transported from Kazakhstan to the port of Ventspils by railway and then shipped out to final destinations.
Throughput capacity of the terminal, constructed by a Kazakh-Latvian joint venture, is 2.5 million tonnes of grain per year. Construction was started in 1994. Joint investments into the project are said to have been worth some 25 million euros.
