Agrarian Fund of Ukraine to take into mortgage 502,000 t of grain

As of August 31 Agrarian Fund of Ukraine made contracts for supply of 502,000 tonnes of grain at mortgage prices, which is 50.3 percent of the target figure, set by government. The physical amount of grain, supplied as of the date and for which the Fund has made the payment, is 276,100 tonnes, Agrarian Policy Ministry said.

Agrarian Fund of Ukraine is the specialised budget institution to which the government has vested the authority to realise its price policy in the country's agro-industrial sector. This year, according to the task, set by government, the Fund is to purchase 1 million tonnes of grain into mortgage storage.

The established mortgage prices for the 2005 crop grains are as follows: wheat Class 3 (top quality, milling) - 550 hryvnias per tonne ($109/t); wheat Class 4 (mid-quality, milling) - 430 hryvnias per tonne ($85/t); wheat Class 5 - (lower quality, milling) - 395 hryvnias per tonne ($78/t); rye Group A 1st class (top quality) - 440 hryvnias per tonne ($87/t); 2nd class (mid-quality) - 320 hryvnias per tonne ($63/t); 3rd class (lower quality) - 280 hryvnias per tonne ($55/t).
