The price on cabbage and cucumber continued to decrease in Ukraine

The wholesale and retail prices on cabbage and cucumber continued to decrease past week. The price decrease on cabbage was caused by the beginning of harvest period for late varieties, which comprise the major part of the gross yield. The quality and yield of white cabbage were relatively high, to the farmers' opinion. At the same time, according to evaluations of the Agricultural Marketing Project, the average cabbage yield in Ukraine will be lower in 2005 than a year ago, that may lead to a certain production decrease.

The price on cucumber continued to decrease under the influence of the supplies of late cucumber varieties, and also the commodities produced in the greenhouses. To the opinion of the market players, at the nearest future the trend of price reduction on cucumber will be preserved.
